Imran Khan, the former high minister of Pakistan, has been arrested by the service as he appeared in court in Islamabad to face charges in a corruption case.

Fawad Chaudhry, a elderly functionary with Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party, said the 72- time-old was arrested on Tuesday on the demesne of the court by agents from the public Responsibility Bureau, the country’s anti-corruption body. A Reuters substantiation said that shortly after Khan entered through the gate of the Islamabad high court, contingents of civil forces and armoured labor force carriers entered after him.

The gate was blocked by the armoured vehicles and Khan was whisked down under heavy security, the substantiation said. Khan was ousted as high minister in a no- confidence vote in April last time.
